William Pohl III is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aquivest Global Holdings, an institutional water rights and water assets investment platform headquartered in Dallas, Texas. He built Aquivest on a single belief: water is the most underwritten essential resource in the global economy, and capital deployed against it should be led by operators who understand the asset, the regulators who govern it, and the communities who depend on it.
With more than 20 years of investment experience and 25 years in real estate, Mr. Pohl has spent his career where most investors refuse to go: deep inside the operations of the businesses and assets he backs. He founded Aquivest after watching the water sector follow the same pattern that has hurt every other essential-resource market; firms chasing yield, exiting at the first sign of friction, and never staying long enough to understand what the basin, the right, or the regulator was actually telling them. Aquivest was designed to be the opposite. The firm deploys long-duration, conviction-driven capital across senior water rights, infrastructure, recharge, reuse, and storage; and it underwrites every position with the discipline of an operator, not the impatience of a trader.
Mr. Pohl’s path to founding Aquivest was anything but conventional. He started on the front lines of hospitality as a Front Office Manager at Hilton Corporation’s DoubleTree, learning firsthand how large-scale assets run from the ground up: revenue management, guest experience, and operational discipline at institutional scale. He carried that operator’s instinct into financial services at Trustpoint Financial Inc., where he rose from Project Manager to Vice President of Investments, leading deal origination, portfolio strategy, and capital deployment across multiple asset classes. By the time he launched Aquivest, he had built a rare combination: the operational DNA of someone who has run the asset and the investment acumen of someone who has structured the deal.
Beyond the firm, Mr. Pohl is building something just as personal as Aquivest itself. He is the Founder of Wolfhaven, a national network of animal sanctuaries headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Wolfhaven is an extension of the same conviction that built Aquivest: the communities and ecosystems where you deploy capital deserve more than a check. They deserve someone who shows up, stays, and builds something that lasts. The work has special resonance in water, where every basin Aquivest enters is a community first and an asset second.
A proud Cincinnati, Ohio native raised alongside two hardworking sisters, Mr. Pohl credits his Midwestern roots for the relentless work ethic and straight-talk approach that define how he leads. When he is not building the next phase of Aquivest or expanding Wolfhaven’s reach across the country, he is most at home surrounded by his dogs, spending time with family, or deep in his growing collection of rare and exotic plants; a pursuit he approaches with the same patience and curiosity he brings to long-duration investing. Mr. Pohl holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from American Public University and is based at the firm’s global headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
